Crafted with care, built to last
At David's Woodworking, every piece tells a story of quality materials and meticulous techniques. Discover the dedication behind our furniture, from the timbers we choose to the finishes we apply, ensuring you receive a product that’s both beautiful and durable.

Our timbers: solid foundations
I believe in the integrity of solid timber. You'll never find MDF or chipboard in any of my creations. I frequently work with affordable and easy-to-machine pine, and occasionally, durable hardwood decking for slats. For our seats and tabletops, we source high-quality pre-made laminated timber tops from Bunnings. These include beautiful tinted acacia (golden teak or brown), versatile pine (perfect for staining or varnishing), and rich merbau, all chosen for their aesthetic appeal and structural soundness.

The journey of creation: from design to finish
Each piece from David's Woodworking begins with careful preparation. I dress the timber myself, meticulously cutting out knots to eliminate potential weaknesses. All designs are crafted and stored using a CAD program, ensuring repeatability and easy customisation to suit your needs. Painted items are undercoated for both timber protection and a superior finish. We exclusively use Feast Watson prooftint stain, an alcohol-based, natural-looking stain that we find far superior to pigment-based alternatives. All varnished components receive at least two coats, with high-wear surfaces like seats typically getting three layers for enhanced durability.
Quality you can feel
While I don't use spray finishes due to space and cost limitations, every piece is carefully finished by brush, ensuring attention to detail in every stroke. This commitment to traditional methods, combined with our choice of solid timbers and strong joinery, means you can expect a finished product that offers lasting durability, a tactile quality, and a unique charm that only handcrafted furniture can provide.
